Disturbing Recording Shows Moment Police Are Stabbed in Ambush
A senior officer that leaped to the assistance of a fellow officer that was assaulted by a knife attacker was granted the Royal Recognition for Courage.
Sergeant Tim Ansell grappled with 27-yr-old Jacob Brown after he pressed a knife to the neck of his fellow officer Sergeant Marc Foster.
Brown began the violence as the law enforcement personnel and their third officer, PC Marcus Wolstencroft, were conversing to a driver following a vehicle incident in the area in mid-2023.
Brown knifed and cut the two Sergeant Ansell and Sergeant Foster prior to Police Constable Wolstencroft stopped him with a electric weapon.

Bodyworn and vehicle camera video released by the agency showed Brown, wearing in black with a hood up, approach to Sergeant Foster from behind with a blade outstretched.
He collided with the officer who lost balance and dropped to the ground, after which Sergeant Ansell stepped in and tried to wrestle him to the pavement despite being continually attacked with the knife.
Police Constable Wolstencroft deployed his electric weapon and awaited a safe opportunity, concluding the fight to an end.
Sgt Ansell was heard stating: "I need something on my neck here, I'm bleeding in the throat."
Sergeant Ansell suffered multiple deep cuts to his throat and further cuts to his limbs and body, whereas Sgt Foster suffered cut injuries.
Authorities said Sergeant Foster used his bare hands to stem his partner's bleeding before paramedics came.
The latest honor arrives subsequent to the three officers won organizational Bravery Awards in late 2023 and the police federation award from the local union branch in spring 2024.
They additionally received a Area Courage Honor in July 2024.
"The actions of all three officers ultimately protected each other and ensured no members of the public experienced any wounds."
Brown was sentenced to an psychiatric detention in April 2024, as stated by the department.
