Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, fresh DM Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept fans guessing with extensive world-building, a colorful mix of characters, and a thrilling plot featuring celestial beings, demons, and dark forces growing in strength within the city.
Warning: Key plot points for the latest installment of Campaign 4 lie ahead.
The Combat-Oriented Party Unveiled
Episode 3 ended with a huge suspense moment and presented the first table of adventurers who will branch out from the central cast to embark on their independent quest, separate from the remaining groups.
This warrior group consists of Teor (brought to life by the voice actor), Thimble (Laura), the fierce warrior (Whitney), Wicander Halovar (Sam Riegel), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie).
Dividing the Cast
Given a large ensemble, it was obvious from the outset that keeping everyone at the same party would be unworkable.
That’s why, the first four episodes of the new season serve as an Introduction, weaving together the individual narratives before dividing into three separate parties: Warriors, Strategists, and Questers.
The Nature of the Warrior Group
Per the Dungeon Master, the Soldiers table is for adventurers who enjoy a traditionally charged fight-heavy narrative style where peaceful solutions are rare.
At first glance, characters like the squeamish cleric the cleric might appear unsuited, but the events of the latest installment make it clear why these five characters are best suited for the Soldiers table.
Reasons to Leave
First, the group knows exactly where to head next after a brutal opening clash with the antagonists.
An old friend of Thjazi Fang—whose death kicked off the narrative’s action—used the enemy for his own means, breaking into Thjazi’s hideout, attacking the character, and stealing all the powerful objects to dispose of.
The antagonist then paid off his obligations and fled to a Halovar stronghouse in the northern region, north of Dol-Makjar, with Cyd Pridesire hot on his heels.
Character Drivers
Additionally, each adventurer has a personal reason to leave the city the urban setting:
- The rogue, as the companion and closest confidant, seeks retribution.
- The knowledgeable figure is familiar with Timmony and cautions that it is a hostile environment.
- Tyranny and Wicander, having disobeyed his family’s wishes to kill the fighter and instead rescued him, have no other options.
- But, their status as important members in the powerful family could enable the team access places they usually can’t.
- Moreover, The fighter pledged a unbreakable promise to The cleric for his salvation and will now accompany him wherever.
Fugitives
Finally, all of them are wanted by the rulers that rule Dol-Makjar for a multiple motives, making lingering locally too risky:
- The rogue and The hero are recognized lawbreakers.
- The strong figure and The cleric turned against the influential house and the horde of evil beings they are allied with.
- The fighter is targeted for elimination by House Halovar.
This leaves them no alternative but to journey toward the remote area in quest for the antagonist.
Upcoming Developments
From the recent installment’s post-show segment, we find out that the Soldiers table will be absent in the upcoming installment, leaving the remaining eight participants to form the Explorers and Strategists parties.
